Galerio is a complete content management framework for art galleries, online exhibitions, agencies and any other organisation based around displaying or organising art in any medium or genre. Galerio is simply ‘Gallery’ in Esperanto, as it is meant to be accessible to all. This website is where I test things out and break stuff regularly.
Galerio extends WordPress to add content types for artists, art works, exhibitions and others, and allows you to connect them together to build a rich, interconnected library of data. It uses the Pods framework for prototyping and is highly customisable, and fits into the structure and workflow of your organisation. Galerio also comes with a flexible and optimised theme, including numerous templates for you to tailor your gallery site to your needs, but can also be used with virtually all themes, page builders and other plug-ins available.
Ultimately, the goal is for Galerio to be available as a downloadable WordPress add-on, but that won’t happen until it’s closer to being feature-complete. Until then, you’ll have to cope with manually installing the components.
You can see Galerio in action on a live site, at swansea.art. You can also check for updates on the Galerio GitHub page while I build this site.
